¹ Lab research on fermented black rice found it inhibits pigment-producing pathways and shows antioxidant activity ("Fermented Unpolished Black Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Inhibits Melanogenesis via ERK, p38, and AKT Phosphorylation in B16F10 Melanoma Cells." J Microbiol Biotechnol. 2020;30(8):1184–1194. PMID: 32423183). This study used cultured mouse melanoma cells, not human skin or a human trial — it points to a mechanism rather than a guaranteed visible result.
