Axis-Y 6+1+1 10% PHA Resurfacing Glow Peel 50ml
A gel-water peel built around 10% Gluconolactone, a Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) with real clinical evidence behind it. A 12-week clinical study found gluconolactone delivered anti-aging benefits comparable to glycolic acid, while being significantly better tolerated¹ — its larger molecular structure means slower, more superficial penetration, which is why PHAs are generally gentler than AHAs or BHAs, including on sensitive, rosacea-prone, or barrier-compromised skin. Separate independent research has found PHA formulations support the skin barrier by reducing water loss and improving tolerance². The formula is rounded out with six fruit and botanical extracts — Cucumber, Muscat Grape, Green Apple, Green Plum, Papaya, and Centella Asiatica — alongside Camellia Japonica Flower Extract.
Key ingredients
- Gluconolactone (PHA) 10% — gentle exfoliant, supports cell renewal, hydration, and barrier strength
- Centella Asiatica Extract — supports skin healing and calming
- Cucumber, Grape, Apple, Plum & Papaya Extracts — botanical extracts for nourishing, soothing support
- Camellia Japonica Flower Extract — antioxidant botanical extract
Best suited for
- Anyone wanting a genuinely well-evidenced, gentle chemical exfoliant
- Sensitive, reactive, or barrier-compromised skin, given PHA's documented tolerability
- Those new to chemical exfoliation, or looking for an alternative to stronger AHAs/BHAs
Screening summary
Out of 20 ingredients, 19 passed without comment. The one that flagged was Disodium EDTA which is added to formulas to stabilise ingredients and support preservatives. This is flagged for environmental reasons as it resists biodegradation in surface water once metal-bound.
A patch test is recommended before first use.

Efficacy claim vs. glycolic acid backed by a NeoStrata-funded (manufacturer) 2004 study, not independent research. Barrier/tolerance claim backed by an independent 2023 study (Jarząbek-Perz, et al.).
